Common questions
Do I need an account?
No. Bookstore Companion works anonymously — there is no sign-in and no account. Your saved list lives on your device.
How do I manage or cancel my subscription?
Your subscription is billed by Apple. To manage or cancel it, open Settings → your name → Subscriptions on your iPhone, or visit apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions. Canceling stops renewal at the end of the current period; refunds are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.
I subscribed but the app still shows the paywall.
Tap Restore Purchases on the paywall while signed in to the App Store with the same Apple Account you used to subscribe. If it still doesn't unlock, email us.
A section scan missed books, or read the wrong titles.
Scanning reads spines from a photo, so it works best straight-on, in good light, with the whole shelf section in frame. Tilted or dim shots lose the small type. If a scan consistently misreads, email us the photo and we'll investigate.
Why does a book show no verdict?
A verdict only appears when we have real evidence behind it — reviews, awards, and coverage we can point to. When there isn't enough to go on, the app says so instead of inventing a rating. That is deliberate.
How do I get my saved books into my home library?
Tap Add these to your Home Library Companion library on the Saved tab. That hands your list to Home Library Companion, our companion app for cataloging books you already own. It's a separate app with its own subscription.
What data does the app collect?
No account, no personal profile. Scan photos are processed and discarded, and a random per-install identifier is used for fair-use limits. The full details are in our Privacy Policy.
